485系は、国鉄の特急用交直流電車です。1964年から1979年にかけて1453両が製造されました。 200番台では前面形状がボンネット型から変更になり、貫通扉が設置されました。 「しらさぎ」は名古屋と北陸地方を結ぶ特急列車です。運行開始時より当形式が使用されました。 2001年より新塗装のリニューアル車で投入され、2006年に完全に運用から離脱しました。
