1986年に登場した近郊型車両。2003年までは快速「マリンライナー」として活躍した。 その後は一部の編成にワンマン対応改造を施工し、主に普通列車として運用されている。 C-01編成は中間車を外し2両で運用されていたが、2016年に他編成のサハを組み込み3両化。 以後は他の3両編成と共通で運用されている。
