汉王刘邦乘项羽征讨齐地，率诸侯兵五十六万伐楚。 汉军长驱直入彭城，尽收楚宫珍宝美人，日置酒高会。 项羽闻讯，留部将继续攻齐，自引三万精骑昼夜兼程，晨击汉军于萧县。 楚军铁骑纵横驰突，自晨至午大破汉师，睢水为之不流。 汉王仓皇西遁，仅与数十骑得脱，太公、吕后皆为楚军所获。 是为彭城之战。
