小明家里世世代代都是信仰道教，每天都会虔诚的供奉神像，得益于神像的保佑，小明家里一直过着富足的生活。 一天，小明的奶奶去世了，父母将她的遗体，埋葬后，外出了几天，回来后像是变了个人一样，频繁的进出道观。 小明对此很是不解，但是自己的父母总是不愿意透露他们在干什么。而且就在奶奶过世后不就过，小明的父亲便撒手人寰。 若干年后，小明娶妻生子，而小明的母亲也突发重病卧床不起。不久后，小明的母亲也离开人世，小明在将母亲埋葬后来到了曾经的那个道观，没过多久，小明也被发现死于家中。
