安远号防护巡洋舰，是平行世界里的清政府,为应对日本威胁，为北洋海军订购的一艘防护巡洋舰，她于1891年完工，次年回国。 在第一次远东战争中，安远与致远靖远以及另一艘防护巡洋舰，编组为巡海舰队，参与了对日本运输船和日本沿海的袭击。随后双方在黄海展开激战，安远率领巡海舰队，与一游直接对抗，阻止了一游包抄北洋海军铁甲舰队（以定镇为首的慢速编队）的企图，为后者击败日方本队创造了机会。但安远也在此战中遭受重创，在维修中度过了战争剩余的时光。 在十余年后的第二次远东战争中，已经落后的安远参与了对海参崴的封锁行动，在与沙俄海军舰艇交战中，误入雷区，不幸触雷沉没。
