※架空です 新宿(にいじゅく)駅の中央線朝6時～7時の様子です。 中央線は北と南に一つずつ大きなデルタ線を有するx字の路線となっており、新宿駅は南側の分岐駅です。 直通する他路線の車庫も兼ねた大規模な新宿車両基地が併設されており、入出庫が特段激しい駅です。また同時出庫が見ものとなっています。 建設当初は3面6線で脳筋配線だったものの、駅ビル建設と脳筋解消を兼ねた大規模工事の結果今の2面4線に。 中央線に代わる大幅なショートカット路線として建設された新宿線への移り変わりにより特急や快特等の有料優等列車は各段に減ったものの、通勤近郊列車で今も線路容量ぎりぎりの本数が発着しています。
