MUGEN RR与普通FD2 typeR最大的区别就是采用了大量碳纤维的覆盖件，并且将原来K20A发动机扩缸到了2‘2升，使其变成了225马力的高转机器，K20A这副引擎一直被诟病的点在于低扭的缺失，但是MUGEN为了弥补这个缺点，将Euro-R上的水道设计，DC5上的凸轮轴气门设定等等全放在了这副K22A上面，全新的64mm节气门和高达11.7的压缩比帮助下，扭力也达到了21.9公斤。
