众所周知，Venris在SFO III大修了经济系统，降低了兵种维护费，尤其是传奇直接免费（以前骑龙传奇经常会到1000的维护费），但同时也降低了建筑收入，导致很多建筑回本周期极长。然后玩家更多的依赖战后收入来补给经济，这一块收入比建筑来得又快又多，出于平衡Venris又把战后也砍了。作为补偿，把开局就有的基础收入提高到了4000。但这样搭建的新经济系统相比SFO II要差很多。 一是严重降低了前期破局的挑战性和乐趣。锤三耐玩性降低的原因就在，玩家实力大增（法强、三代更屌的领主、无补给线、装备合成与无冷却传递等）的同时，ai却比锤二还差。而开局就有的基础收入4000加上随便凑个千把块建筑...
