山陽電鉄3000系は神戸高速鉄道開業と阪急・阪神との相互直通にあわせて1964年にデビューしました。初期車はオールアルミ合金製で製造されローレル賞を受賞しています。マイナーチェンジ車3050系含め1985年まで増備が行われました。老朽化により6000系による置き換えが進んでいますが、現在も多くが活躍を続けています。
