413系は国鉄末期の1986年より登場した形式で、老朽化した急行型電車の機器を流用しつつ車体を新しく製造している。うち2編成にはサハ455形から改造したクハ455形700番代を連結している。新北陸色はJR西日本発足後に登場した塗装で、オイスターホワイトの車体にライトコバルトブルーの帯が巻かれている。
